We leave the buzz of the city behind and turn into the little side street on the outskirts of town. It's early on a summer's morning and the neighbour-hood is still sleeping. The street is silent, peaceful and still. The cool of the night slowly gives way to the first tentative rays of sunlight peering over the horizon. The air is fresh and filled with the scent of the lilacs that line the pavement leading to the house. The gate stands ajar, inviting us into the lush garden. A stone path leads the way to the beautiful 1930s house. On the top floor the windows are open to the new day. Familiar voices can be heard inside. The door opens and the florals of the entrance hall envelop us. With a deep sigh, a sense of peace settles around us and the walls whisper, welcome home.
